It was night of The Ball. Agnes and Abigail were all aquiver, but their fervor did little to improve their dispositions.

"That's too tight, Cinderyella! I'll look like a trussed chicken!" snapped Agnes.

"These pearls are SOOO last year," whined Abigail. "Can't I borrow your topaz tiara?"

"Forget it," snarled Agnes. "I don't want him to notice you, I want him to look at me! In fact maybe I'LL wear that tiara. Thanks for reminding me."

By the time the coach pulled around, they were sour, sulking, and not speaking to each other.
